The Snickari Summer Chefs Weeks return – featuring three visiting Top Chefs

This summer, Snickari proudly presents the return of the Snickari Summer Chefs Weeks, featuring three exceptional guest chefs:

Niko Lehto, founder of the Michelin-starred restaurant Vår;
Kim Mustonen, the acclaimed Head Chef of Havu Kitchen & Bar—voted the best restaurant in North Savo; and
Johan Kurkela, currently preparing for Finland’s next Bocuse d’Or selection competition.

Each week, guests will enjoy a unique multi-course signature menu crafted by the visiting chef, beginning with a starter snack or amuse-bouche. The dining experience is elevated by a thoughtfully selected wine pairing.

Niko Lehto – May 28–31, 2025

Niko Lehto is one of Porvoo’s most renowned chefs. Until spring 2025, he was the restaurateur and head chef of Restaurant Vår, which earned a Michelin star just a year and a half after opening—an achievement credited to Niko’s visionary leadership.

His food philosophy is deeply rooted in Nordic traditions. Seasonal ingredients, wild herbs, and local flavors are at the core of his cooking, thoughtfully combined with visual artistry and a strong commitment to ethical practices. Most recently, Restaurant Vår was ranked 11th on the list of Finland’s 50 Best Restaurants.

Kim Mustonen June 24–28, 2025

Kim Mustonen, named Head Chef of the Year 2023, currently leads the kitchen at Havu Kitchen & Bar, located at the Tahko Holiday Resort in Kuopio. With a long and diverse career, Kim has secured his place among the top names in the restaurant industry. His extensive international background has shaped him into a globally respected culinary professional. Throughout his career, Kim has refined his craft in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world—including in London, New York, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, South Korea, and France.

Johan Kurkela – August 5–9, 2025

Johan Kurkela was named Chef of the Year 2023 and proudly represented Finland in the world’s most prestigious culinary competition, Bocuse d’Or, during the 2022–2023 season—earning an impressive 6th place finish. He and his team are now preparing for Finland’s next Bocuse d’Or qualifying rounds, set to take place at the end of May.

For his visit to Snickari, Johan presents a menu that reflects his culinary philosophy beyond the competition arena: ingredient-driven, seasonal cooking that is unpretentious yet precise—where flavour always takes center stage.
